Getting started
This page covers the new native CaliNote 0.1.0 beta, requiring macOS 26, iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. No CaliNote account is required. The app uses its own data directory by default. Start with synthetic notes and do not import a real library. Create, edit and reopen a note to confirm it saved.
Mac and mobile
Both platforms provide daily notes, a note library, Markdown editing with live preview, and optional Calendar and Reminders connections. Mac also offers menu bar capture, schedule browsing and shortcuts to open the app.
Sync and missing notes
Sync is off by default. When enabled, it uses your Apple account’s private CloudKit database, not a selected iCloud Drive folder. Two-device validation is incomplete; use synthetic content only. Record the version, date and sync status before troubleshooting. Do not delete indexes or overwrite another device’s data.
Calendar and Reminders
Check permissions in system settings, then select dedicated test calendars and reminder lists in the app. System permission may cover more sources than you select. Use only dedicated sources while testing. Denying access does not prevent basic note editing.
Backups and deletion
The app stores database and relationship records as well as notes. Copying Markdown alone is not a full backup. Turning sync off does not delete cloud data. Uninstalling may leave exports, backups and CloudKit records. Do not test recovery using important personal data.
Sending feedback
Include the app version and build, system version, device, reproduction steps, expected and actual result. Use TestFlight or the email below. Review screenshots and exports first; do not attach private notes, passwords or your entire library.
