Licence and acceptable use
You may use PennyTally on Apple-branded devices you own or control under Apple’s usage rules. The app is licensed, not sold. Do not use it unlawfully, infringe others’ rights, interfere with the service or attempt unauthorised access. Restrictions on copying, redistribution or reverse engineering apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Your records
You retain ownership of the records you enter and are responsible for their accuracy and for having permission to include other people’s information. PennyTally is a manual bookkeeping tool, not a bank, payment service, tax filing system or financial adviser.
Each ledger uses one reporting currency. For local ledgers, you can preview a reporting-currency conversion in Ledger settings; a complete JSON backup is saved before conversion. Conversion is unavailable for iCloud or shared ledgers, or while a ledger is being moved. Foreign-currency entries use a daily reference rate or a rate you enter, rounded to the nearest minor unit. Rates may lag on weekends and holidays and may differ from bank charges. Saved entries keep their applied rate unless you change it or convert the reporting currency. Verify records against original receipts before making financial or tax decisions.
History, backups and recovery
Keep backups of important records; exports are unencrypted. Entry deletion is permanent. Deleted ledgers stay in Recently deleted and can be restored. Deleted ledgers can be restored for 30 days. After that, they and their entries, receipts and history are permanently deleted.
JSON restoration creates an independent local copy. Keep separate backups of important records, especially before testing migration or sharing. Cloud synchronisation is not a substitute for a backup and cannot guarantee immediate delivery.
iCloud and shared ledgers
Optional cloud features depend on your Apple Account, Apple’s services, network access and storage availability. They may be interrupted. Only share data you intend all invited members to see, including historical notes and revoked entries.
Editing permission allows changes to the whole shared ledger. Removing access cannot recall copies members already saved. Leaving or stopping sharing creates a local copy first; entries not yet received from another device may be absent from it.
TestFlight versions and availability
TestFlight builds are for testing, may contain incomplete features or faults, and may expire or be withdrawn. Use separate test data and keep backups.
A beta invitation does not promise a public release date, future feature or price. Apple’s TestFlight terms apply. Updates may change supported operating systems or feature availability.
Responsibility and consumer protection
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided as available without a promise of uninterrupted service or error-free records. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory warranties, required care and skill, or other consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Liability is limited only to the extent permitted by law. No exclusion applies to fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude. Mandatory protections in your place of residence remain available. Apple’s standard licence identifies applicable governing-law provisions and regional exceptions.
Ending use, changes and contact
You may stop using the app at any time. Export needed records first. Ending use or uninstalling does not automatically remove iCloud records, backups, exported files or other members’ copies.
Material changes will be reflected in these terms and their date. For questions, contact York Global Commerce Ltd at contact@yorkglobal.co.uk. Apple’s standard licence takes precedence where its mandatory terms apply.
